It takes a lot of behind the scenes work to put on an event, and I am truly blessed to get to work with an amazing and supportive team! Countless hours go into planning and staging events and I know that each one of their talents help to make each event run smoothly. Most of you know me, so I wanted you to get to know the team of Amy Marie Events. I've had them answer some fun questions to get to know them.
This is Josh. Wonderful husband and all around great guy. He is Co-owner of AME and as he says he is the brawn and I am the brains. He was brought to Amy Marie Events by our own wedded bliss last October. His background is in construction, so he definitely is the brawn of this outfit. He can be found usually high up on a ladder hanging florals, or doing the heavy lifting. Sometimes the floral arrangements are incredibly heavy, and I construct a lot of the larger ones on-site while he holds the frame for me. So in this case he not only my right hand man, but also my left!! He not only completes our AME team but our family as well. He said, "What really makes me excited is to see my family and see them being happy and laughing, and them knowing that I love them."
Rita is known as our take down Ninja! What I love about Rita is that she is not afraid to get her hands dirty to get the job done, and she is so fast! She really is like a Ninja when it comes to the end of an event. What ever job needs to get done she is happy to do it! Rita came to AME from working a mutual friend's wedding with me years ago. We had a good time together, and have enjoyed working together ever since! Rita grew up in California. However, her favorite memories are the summers in Kansas: catching fireflies, making homemade ice cream, and bike ridding with her cousins. Her aunt was a teacher in a one room school house. This inspired her to become a teacher as well, and she taught in Gloucester County at the Regional Alternative School, then as a home bound teacher for over 20 years.
Our newest team member Chris joined us this spring as our Marketing Director and Events Assistant. I met Chris last Summer at a Mother Daughter Paint Party she was instructing for Camp Piankatank. I contacted her again last winter and asked her to instruct a paint session for a corporate Christmas Party. She was inspired by its large scale and elaborate theme and asked me if she could work for AME to help with marketing and assist with event organization and set up. I have been asked by people in the past to work with me, but something was different with Chris. When we first met she came prepared with a list of what she could do for the company and how she could help me, and I found that so refreshing. She has an advertising and marketing degree coupled with a creative background, so I knew she would be a great addition to the team.
What do you love about events? Or what is your favorite part of an event?
JOSH: I love to make Brides and grooms see their dream come to life. And I love when every body comes to the event and sees my wife's beautiful design!
CHRIS: I love seeing the clients vision come to life! I love watching couples start their lives together with the backdrop that Amy beautifully designed.
RITA: Who doesn’t love a party or a wedding! It truly is fun being a part of seeing all the elements come together beautifully. The florals at each event or wedding are totally different and totally breathtaking. Truly, the very best part of an event is seeing and hearing the laughter and excitement of those attending. After all the hustle and bustle of getting everything into place, it is so awesome just to see, hear and take in the joy of the special day.
Whats your favorite family tradition?
JOSH: I love it when my family has game night on Monday nights, it’s so much fun to hang out with my three girl and beautiful wife.

CHRIS: I am a bit of a thrill seeker, or at least was before kids, but there’s quite a few. I love heights so I’ve been sky diving, hot air ballooning, and flown an ultra light glider. I swam with tiger sharks (in a cage of course). But probably the craziest was actually pet a cheetah in a behind the scenes zoo tour in Kenya.
RITA: I went on an amazing trip to Ecuador with two awesome friends. We ate ants, took in the beauty of waterfalls, hiked and made new friends.

What inspires you?
JOSH: My wife and kids inspire me every day and they show the love of Jesus to me!
CHRIS: My family - I strive each day to care for them in a way that would honor my grandmother. Also my son. He sees the world in a different way, and I try to see the world through his eyes. He experiences things deeply, sometimes that can be challenging but it can also be beautiful. He is on the Autism spectrum and caring for him and making sure he gets what he needs is a HUGE part of my life.
RITA: I am inspired and encouraged when I see people struggle and overcome difficulties through their faith and strength in Jesus.
What’s the best concert you’ve attended?
JOSH: Well it would have to be Kings fest at kings dominion and Christian concert!
CHRIS: Surprisingly I think it was Kanye West years ago haha. Recently though the Toby Mac Hits Deep tour was a wonderful experience.
RITA: I went to a Peter Paul and Mary concert. If you are wondering who they are, they are folk singers of the 60’s.
What are your hobbies or do you do for fun?
JOSH: What I do for fun is hang out with girls and wife and spend all my spare time with them! Because they are the coolest girls and wife ever!

RITA: For fun I hang out with the 3 girls of Amy and Josh.
What was the last book you read? Favorite speaker? Favorite bands?
JOSH: The last book was "Cherish" by Gary Thomas. I don’t really listen to a lot of speakers, so I don’t really have one. My favorite bands are really all country and Christian and hip hop music.
CHRIS: I’m not a big reader, so the last book was probably the Hunger Games series. I did listen to an audio book that I really enjoyed so that counts right?!? It was “Not Enough Faith to be an Athiest.” I love motivational speakers so I’d have to say Zig Ziglar, Les Brown, and Simon Sinek. I love anything 80’s music, and classic rock, but I mostly listen to Christian Music. My fave Christian Band is We are Messengers.
RITA: I recently read “Becoming Myself “ by Staci Eldredge. My favorite speaker is Daniel Floyd of Lifepoint Church.
Who has been your biggest influence on your life?
JOSH: God, Amy Polezhaev, my Mom, and Jeff Bowman
CHRIS: My grandmother. She was very kind and always took care of everyone. I’m happy to say I got her baking genes. She helped raise me when my mother was a single parent and was working very hard to provide for us.
RITA: Amy Marie Polezhaev influences and encourages me for growth and change in so many ways.
How do you like to start your day? Earlybird/nightowl?
JOSH: I like to wake up and kiss my wife all over her face and then read a devotional with her and some coffee and then workout with her!
CHRIS: I’m def a night owl! To start my day I like to start slow after I get my son on the bus with at least two cups of coffee and some Duck Dynasty.
RITA: I like a hot shower, then hot tea with my Bible in hand. Ready to start my day!
What are the values that drive you?
What we believe filters down and inspires who we are and what we do.
JOSH: Being the best I can be in a Godly way towards my wife and kids! And to every body I see!
CHRIS: To rely fully on God and his timing for my life. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
RITA: I value people. I have a friend who says all the time that we should “Love God, love people.”
That is what I strive for daily. There are times that I mess up big time and need to ask for forgiveness. Whether serving my family, or people I don’t know, my desire is to serve with generosity and love.
What do you do that makes you ‘human’, makes you feel alive and excited?
JOSH: What really makes me excited is to see my family and see them being happy and laughing, and them knowing that I love them.
CHRIS: I love being in the outdoors going on walks with my family or bike rides to the beach. I probably watch way too much TV, but whenever I can I really love painting. Whether its hosting paint parties, doing a commissioned painting, or just painting for fun!
RITA: I really do love hanging out with Amy and Josh’s girls. I also love being outside. Whether I am sitting reading a book, walking or just enjoying a sunrise or sunset; I love being outside. I am excited that I will soon get a bicycle, join a biking club and take up a new adventure!! I can hardly wait.
Well that's AME! Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know our talented staff! We thoroughly look forward to all of our upcoming events this year, and can't wait to serve our clients!
